We recently renewed Fordham Avenue Kindergarten to better meet the needs of children, families, and educators, now and into the future. The renewal works created a modern learning environment, with vibrant and refreshed spaces and features for kindergarten children and educators.

This project was supported by the Victorian Government, which contributed $300,000 as part of its Building Blocks Early Learning Facility Upgrade grants program.

About the project

The refurbishment works commenced in late 2021 and were completed in stages throughout the 2022 to 2023 school holiday periods, to avoid disruption to programs, activities, and services.

Works included: 

• internal painting to brighten up the classrooms, toilets, and kitchen
• new flooring and kitchen cabinetry
• new operable door between classrooms 
• upgrades to ensure the children’s toilets, paths and ramps are accessible for children and families of all abilities
• installation of an electronic access system to both gates
• replacement of an external door and mechanical ventilation installation across lower-level doors
• roof repair and drainage works, including a new retaining wall and installation of a stormwater grate 
• upgrades to cladding and stairs.

3-year-old kindergarten program

Beetles group (Room 2 – western side)

This program offers 13 hours of free kinder per week.

Turtles group (Room 1 – eastern side)

This program offers 13 hours of free kinder per week.

4-year-old kindergarten program

Dragonflies group (Room 2 – western side)

This program offers 15 hours of free kinder per week, and 4 hours and 30 minutes of additional optional hours.

Frogs group (Room 1 – eastern side)

This program offers 15 hours of free kinder per week, and 4 hours and 30 minutes of additional optional hours.

2026 fees per term 

The Victorian Government Free Kinder initiative is available at this kindergarten. Concession rates are not applicable.

3-year-old kindergarten program:

• Beetles free kinder hours (13 hours per week): Free
• Turtles free kinder hours (13 hours per week): Free

4-year-old kindergarten program:

• Dragonflies free kinder hours (15 hours per week): Free
• Frogs free kinder hours (15 hours per week): Free
• Optional additional hours (4 hours and 30 minutes per week): $495 (waived for concession card holders)

2026 administration fee

• Administration fee $300 (replaces the enrolment fee and is non-refundable)

Voluntary contributions

• Voluntary contribution $250 to cover resources and educational visits

Rating against the National Quality Standard

Early childhood education and care services are assessed and rated against the National Quality Standard (NQS) to:

• promote continuous improvement in the provision of quality education and care
• improve knowledge and access to information about the quality of services to help families make informed decisions about their child’s education and care.

Winter sports schedule

The winter season runs from 1 April 2026 to 30 September 2026.

Bowen Park is a lush space with a generous cover of beautiful mature trees. This makes it ideal for picnics.

With its fun-filled adventure playground and plenty of open space, Riversdale Park is a popular place for events and social gatherings.

In December each year, there's a popular and free Summertime Cinema screening in the park.
