On this page
City of Boroondara has beautiful parks and gardens that can be used for outdoor events. This guide will help you organise an event and find information about permits and approvals.
If you are organising an event on a road, visit our Occupying a road or footpath page.
When to book
Gatherings with less than 50 people that don’t involve any third-party vendors or additional infrastructure don’t need a booking.
You may still need additional permits depending on the type of activities involved. See our Before you book an outdoor space page for common permits.
You will need to make a booking for gatherings involving any of the following:
- more than 50 people
- third-party businesses or professionals
- additional infrastructure like marquees or generators
- a wedding ceremony.
Complex events
We recommend allowing at least 12 weeks to plan large-scale or complex events.
Items and activities that aren’t permitted
Your event is not allowed to have:
- animal farms, petting zoos or pony rides
- reptile farms or live animal enclosures
- jumping castles
- amusement rides
- portable barbecues of any kind
- fog machines
- vehicles or horse-drawn carriages
- motorised vehicles or equipment
- pegs or stakes to secure equipment in the ground.
