BooST free home energy assessments and energy upgrade subsidies

Eligible Boroondara residents can access a free home energy assessment and an energy upgrade subsidy of up to $2,000 through the BooST (Boroondara’s Sustainable Transition) initiative, currently delivered in partnership with Solar Savers.

By making a few simple changes in your home, you can improve comfort at home, reduce your energy bills and contribute to a more sustainable future.

About these offers 

Home energy assessments are made by a qualified expert to help you understand how much energy your home uses.

A one-off discount of up to $2,000 is available to install low-cost, high-impact energy-efficiency and electrification upgrades from vetted suppliers. Eligible upgrades include:

• solar panels (check if you need a permit to install solar panels)
• batteries
• heat pump hot water systems
• split systems
• insulation
• draught proofing
• induction cooktops
• electric vehicle chargers.

Eligibility

• Free home energy assessments are available to all Boroondara residents (ie renters and homeowners). Each property is eligible for one free home energy assessment every 5 years.
• You may request quotes from up to three home energy assessment providers, but you can only book one free assessment with a single provider.
• Energy upgrade subsidies are available only for Boroondara homeowners.
• Each household is eligible for an energy upgrade subsidy of up to $2,000 with one supplier only. Your supplier will tell you if you're eligible for further state or federal government rebates.
• These offers have been extended from the original program completion date of 31 December 2026 until 30 June 2027* or until funds are exhausted.
• Businesses are not eligible.

*Through either Solar Savers or an alternative provider.  

Register now

1. Go to the Solar Savers website
   1. Select 'Energy assessment' to find ways to cut energy use and improve energy efficiency at home
   2. Select either 'Solar, batteries and electrification' or 'Insulation and draught proofing' to receive subsidised quotes for the products you're interested in.
2. Select 'Home'
3. Complete and submit the form.

Vetted supplier/s will contact you around 3 business days after you register. 

You're under no obligation to act on information or quotes you receive, but if you choose to, you can work directly with your vetted supplier to arrange a home energy inspection or install your chosen products. Solar Savers will only step in if you need support.
