VicSmart is a streamlined application process that may reduce your application fee.
To determine whether your application is eligible for VicSmart, refer to the zone, overlay or particular provision that requires a Planning Permit. To find out which overlays and zones impact your property, go to Planning Maps Online.

How to apply for a Planning Permit through VicSmart
Step 1: Prepare your application

We prefer that you submit the application for VicSmart in electronic format.
Email the VicSmart application form and supporting documents to [email protected], marked for the attention of the Statutory Planning Department.
We also accept applications submitted by post or in person. Address these submissions to:

Note that subsequent correspondence from Council will be provided to the email address stated on the application form.
Step 3: Respond to requests for further information
Council may request further information within 5 business days.
Step 4: Council assesses the VicSmart Planning Permit application
A Council officer assesses the application against preset criteria.
Step 5: Council issues a decision
A Council officer approves or refuses the application within 10 business days and will notify the applicant.

Approximately 10 business days from the date all required information is received.
