Our role as Council is to set and deliver on the planning strategies that guide how land in Boroondara is used and developed.
Our strategies cover four main areas:
- Housing and residential: our Neighbourhood Character Study guides development and our Housing Strategy manages the provision of housing and protection of our valued neighbourhood character.
- Shopping and commercial: our Shopping and commercial areas strategies often focus on specific parts of the municipality.
- Open space and environment: our Open Space Strategy provides opportunities in the natural environment for relaxation and fitness, while protecting biodiversity.
- Heritage: we work to identify and protect the heritage of places across Boroondara for current and future generations.
For information on the zones that apply across the municipality, which have a set of requirements stating what land in each zone may be used for, visit the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning.
