Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT) to amend the existing planning permit PP19/0843

  • P281/2023 - 979-981 Burke Road Camberwell (refer to relevant documents below)

The Permit Holder for 979-981 Burke Road Camberwell has lodged an application with the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT) to amend the existing planning permit for the site. The existing planning permit allows: Construction of a six-storey (including mezzanine level) mixed-use development; construction over three basement levels; reduction in car parking; and, Alteration of access to a Road Zone Category 1.

The application is currently listed for a compulsory conference (mediation) on 18 May 2023 and a hearing on 8-9 August 2023.

The type of application lodged with VCAT allows the Permit Holder to apply directly to VCAT to amend the existing planning permit without Council having firstly determined the application. Although Council is still required to form a position on the amendment application prior to the VCAT hearing, it is yet to do so. 

Residents wishing to participate at the VCAT hearing must follow the instructions in the VCAT Order dated 16 March 2023 and lodge a statement of grounds by 24 April 2023. Further information can be obtained directly from VCAT on Ph: 1300 01 8228 and quoting the reference number P281/2023.
