We have carried out a heritage assessment of 17 properties in Balwyn and Balwyn North. The following properties have been identified as having local heritage significance and are proposed for inclusion in the Heritage Overlay:116 Bulleen Road, Balwyn North

  • 47 Mountain View Road, Balwyn North
  • 24 Orion Street, Balwyn North
  • 22 Riverview Road, Balwyn North
  • 2 Salford Avenue, Balwyn
  • 9 Tormey Street, Balwyn North
  • 17 Trentwood Avenue, Balwyn North
  • 32 Ursa Street, Balwyn North
  • 17 Yandilla Street, Balwyn.

Preliminary consultation - have your say

Council is now inviting feedback on the draft heritage citations for the above properties.

Please note: any feedback on the proposal must be made in writing by Monday 5 December 2022.

Next steps

Once the preliminary consultation process is complete, Council officers will review all feedback received and prepare a report for consideration by the Urban Planning Delegated Committee (UPDC).

The UPDC will decide whether to:

adopt the citations with or without changes as a result of the feedback received and/or recommended by Council officers

  • commence the formal planning scheme amendment process to introduce the proposed changes into the Boroondara Planning Scheme
  • defer adoption of the citations and commencement of the amendment until further work is undertaken
  • abandon the proposal.

The report is likely to be considered by the UPDC in early 2023. 

Affected and adjoining property owners/occupiers and anyone who provided Council with feedback as part of the preliminary consultation process will have the opportunity to address the UPDC in support of their feedback.
