Event details
This course takes place over 4 Mondays in October
Australia’s most fearless wine critic and the author of 30 books (including 19 editions of the best-selling The Australian Wine Annual), Jeremy Oliver will enhance your enjoyment and appreciation of wine.
This is the ultimate wine course for beginners and even seasoned wine enthusiasts, because Jeremy is a qualified winemaker and long-term industry commentator who keeps right on top of wine trends in Australia and around the world.
Jeremy has long developed a reputation for calling wine as he sees it, so his sessions are as much about entertainment and stories as they are about education. He firmly believes wine education should be fun, and by de-mystifying wine, he makes it simpler to follow and easier to enjoy.
The course takes place in the comfortable environs of the Mayor’s Room and covers everything a wine enthusiast needs to discover, including:
- How to taste wine
- Wine history and culture
- The major grape varieties in Australian and world wine
- How wine is grown and made
- Australian wine regions
- Sparkling wines
- White wines
- Red wines
- Dessert wines
- Fortified wines
- Wine and food
- Cellaring and serving ... and anything else people wish to know!
Jeremy will guide his guests through detailed and professional tastings in each of the 4 sessions.
Having run a wine school for 17 years and hosted hundreds of events in Australia and around the world, he’s excited to share again his knowledge and passion with Melbourne’s current and budding wine enthusiasts.
All guests receive an ultra-comprehensive set of Jeremy’s unique course notes.
