Sign up for updates 2. Registration and preferences Register between 1 May and 30 June the year prior to be included in the first round of offers in July. To attend kindergarten this year, register your child anytime until 31 October. Register for kindergarten this yearTo receive a first-round offer for a kindergarten place next year, register between 1 May and 30 June 2026. Registrations for next year will open in May this year.Applications submitted after 30 June will still be accepted but they'll be considered in later offer rounds.When you register, you'll be asked to nominate up to 6 kindergarten programs. These are called 'preferences'. Kindergarten program preferences are listed on the registration form. You can select multiple sessions at the same service if available. Preferencing all 6 programs gives you the best chance of allocation to your preferred program. Enrolments are managed by the kindergartens, not council, and can occur a few months after you accepted the offer. 5. Kindergarten starts Your child's educational journey begins. Term 1 usually begins in the last week of January. Please check with your kindergarten as they don't all start on the same day.There are lots of things you can do to prepare your child for kindergarten. You can prepare yourself and your child over the summer holidays by talking about what they'll do at kindergarten, labelling belongings and creating sleep routines.On the first day of kindergarten, follow the kindergarten's instructions about what to bring (eg lunch, sun hat, spare clothes) and talk to your child about what to expect and when you'll pick them up.
