Charter of Aged Care Rights
As of 1 July 2019, the Australian Government introduced a new Charter of Aged Care Rights. The Charter covers a number of fundamental protections across safe and quality care to maintain independence, information provision, privacy control, and ensuring fairness and choice when seeking and receiving support. The Charter is underpinned by the new Aged Care Quality Standards.
All eligible residents seeking support and current clients receiving services under the Commonwealth Home Support Program offered by Council, will receive a copy of the Charter and be given the opportunity to sign it. Please note, eligible residents and current clients can commence and/or continue to receive care and services even if they choose not to sign the Charter.
