The Kew Seniors Centre and Balwyn Park Centre are available for hire by community groups on a casual basis when they are not being used by their regular occupants.

Note: These facilities are not available for parties and availability for casual hire is very limited during the day and on weekends.

Kew Seniors Centre Casual Hiring guide

The Kew Seniors Centre is a Council facility which provides community spaces for eight seniors groups who are licensed to use the centre on a weekly basis. The facility is on one level and is fully accessible.

With capacity for up to 100 people and access to a kitchen if required, the rooms would be suitable for small functions, presentations, meetings, workshops and the like. 

The Kew Seniors Hall

The Kew Seniors Hall has capacity for 100+ people depending on the configuration of the room. 

The room can be used as one large room, or divided into two smaller rooms by using the operable walls. 

Equipment:

  • 100 chairs
  • 15 tables
  • AV equipment 
  • Heating and air-conditioning 
  • Skylight blinds 
  • Operable wall - can create two smaller rooms 

Kitchen

The kitchen is equipped with stove/oven, commercial dishwasher, boiling water dispenser.  
Casual user would be required to provide all necessary equipment and consumables.

Games room

The games room has capacity for up to 30 people. The room can be used for meetings and programs.

  • 30 chairs
  • 6 Tables 
  • Heating and air-conditioning 

Meeting Room 1

Meeting Room 1 is a small room which can hold up to twelve people for meetings or activities.

  • 12 chairs

Balwyn Park Centre Casual Hiring guide

The Balwyn Park Centre is home to the Balwyn Park Tennis Club, U3A Deepdene and the Balwyn Football and Cricket Clubs in season.

With capacity for up to 100 people and access to a kitchen if required, the rooms would be suitable for small functions, presentations, meetings and workshops. 

Please note the Balwyn Park Centre is not the Balwyn Park Pavilion. If you are wanting to book the pavilion/and or sports ground, please visit our hire a venue page.

The Community Room 

Located on the ground level, the large Community Room has the capacity to hold approximately 100+ people depending on the configuration of the room. 

The room can be used as one large room, or can be divided into two or three smaller rooms by using the operable walls.

Multipurpose Room 4

The multipurpose room is located on the lower ground floor  and can accommodate up to 20 people.

  • 20 chairs
  • 7 tables
  • Heating and air-conditioning 

 

Conditions of Hire

Casual Room hire is based on a minimum of three hours booking. Access includes set up and pack down time. Hirers must not enter or exit outside booking period. 

All users are required to pack down the room after their session and leave the room neat and tidy ready for the next user group. All rubbish needs to be removed from the rooms and placed in the bins.

Audio visual instructions are provided in the room. It's important that you familiarise yourself with the equipment as we cannot provide technical assistance during your session.

If you have a presentation you need to bring your own laptop and HDMI or VGA cables. 

Access to the kitchen can be provided with booking if required. All users need to ensure that the kitchen is left clean and tidy at the end of their session. It is the hirer’s responsibility to arrange catering and food safety permits as appropriate.

Inspection of the venue is by appointment only.

No venue support is available during events, so users need to be responsible for their own set up, operating the AV equipment and leaving the venue clean and tidy.
