We are leading a project to support the Hartwell Association of Residents and Traders, Hartwell traders and the local community by funding the installation of a community mural to add colour and life to Hartwell Shopping Precinct.

We will be installing a creative mural on Council land, along the length of the vacant property located at 1134 Toorak Road, Camberwell.

In 2023, we engaged a local artist, Angharad Neal-Williams, to lead a series of creative community workshops with 4 local schools to develop the mural design, based on the theme ‘Heart of Melbourne’.

Thank you to all the students involved from:

  • Camberwell South Primary School
  • Glen Iris Primary School
  • Hartwell Primary School and
  • St Dominic's Primary School.

The workshops are now complete, and we look forward to installing the mural in the coming months for everyone to enjoy visiting.

The mural aims to add colour and life, increase visitation and encourage the community to shop locally, following the impacts COVID-19 has had on local businesses in the area.

March to April 2023

Creative community workshops were held at all 4 schools.

April to June 2023

The artist and creative director will finalise the community mural, incorporating the creations from the local school workshops.

Early 2024

Temporary fencing and structures will be installed around the mural space to allow for the mural to be completed.
