Current focus areas For all shopping strips and villages in Boroondara High-pressure cleaning We’ll do more high-pressure cleaning and hot wash over 50 locations for more noticeable results. Garden maintenance We’ll get all garden beds looking their best and increase plantings where there’s room for them. Graffiti removal We’re working closely with traders and trader associations and providing additional funding to tackle graffiti in problem areas. Refresh timber furniture 1 in 3 shopping areas has timber seats that are due for a refresh. We’re getting to all of them. Audit of waste and recycling bins Getting the right bins where you need them starts with reviewing over 300 current locations and prioritising what needs to change. Future events and art activations As summer approaches, catch more pop-up performances and eye-catching visuals around the place as you shop. We’re listeningWe’ve gathered hundreds of comments from residents and traders during community consultation. Many focused on simple things we could do to make our shopping strips more welcoming. Things like: ‘We need bigger waste bins and also recycling bins.’Belmore Heights ‘More live pop-up entertainment.’Burwood Village ‘Add more planting please.’Fordham Village ‘Keep the area clean and fresh.’Glenferrie Hill‘More benches, more recycling bins with clearer marking…More LGBT inclusive signage/art.’Glenferrie Road‘Soft landscaping and greenery. It’s very dull and concrete now.’Greythorn ….plus hundreds more requests and diverse ideas for improvement. With some fast improvements underway across our shopping strips and villages, we’re also developing a new Shopping Centre Improvement Plan to guide future upgrades and investment over the next 10 years. We're reviewing community feedback and inspection findings to help prioritise projects and budget allocation.
