Help us capture the living history of Maranoa Botanic Gardens for future generations!

For more than a century, Maranoa Botanic Gardens in Balwyn has been a place of connection, discovery, learning and quiet reflection for visitors.

Originally established in 1901, the gardens have welcomed generations of visitors, and this year marks a special milestone – 100 years since the gardens first opened to the public in September 1926.

To celebrate this milestone, we invite you to share your stories, memories and photos with us.

How we’ll use your submissions

Your stories, memories and photos will help us grow our Maranoa Botanic Gardens historical record collection.

By submitting your memories and photos to Council, you acknowledge that they will be included in our historical records and may be displayed publicly.

If you wish to remain anonymous, please don’t include any identifying information in your submission.

For any photos submitted, please complete the Consent for recording and publication form.

We’ll be marking 100 years since Maranoa Botanic Gardens first opened to the public with a free community celebration on Saturday 19 September 2026.
