Kew Recreation Centre October 2026 progress report

Construction progress

We're making great progress across the site.

We're now in the final stages of building the sports courts, with scoreboards and basketball rings currently being installed.

We've completed tiling in the warm water pool and have started installing the sauna.

We've also finished installing the glazing around the 25-metre pool and learn-to-swim pool.

The roof above the leisure pool and aqua play area is now complete.

Building a sustainable centre

We're close to completing the roof across the new centre and have started installing solar panels.

Solar panels are just one of the features that will help reduce the centre's environmental footprint and support a more sustainable future. Other features include:

• Heat pump technology to warm the pools, allowing the centre to operate without gas
• High-performance insulation, glazing and airtight construction to reduce energy use
• Pool water recycling systems
• Water-efficient fittings and fixtures
• Rainwater harvesting for pool water filtering.
