Celebrate ageing and share your dreams and aspirations for the future.

‘Before I turn 100’ is an interactive community arts project everyone can contribute to. 

This initiative is inspired by American artist Candy Chang’s Before I Die project. It has now been adapted over 5,000 walls, in 35 languages and 75 countries across the globe.

During November, our community came together to pause, reflect and share dreams for the future. Families, friends, colleagues and classmates added their unique responses to our public chalk walls, forming a rich collection of stories, hopes and dreams. 

These responses will help shape a community art exhibition at the Hawthorn Arts Centre in 2026. The exhibition will weave together voices from across the age span, from the dreams of children to the stories and wisdom of Boroondara's centenarians, as we celebrate our vibrant community.
