We’re excited to share a first look at the designs for the Michael Tuck Stand as part of our plans to bring new life to the Glenferrie Oval precinct.
We’re refurbishing the inside of the stand to create practical and flexible spaces suitable for different community uses. We’re working with Heritage Victoria to respect the iconic building’s history while unlocking its potential. Community feedback helped shape the design of the different spaces.
Go to our Revitalising the Glenferrie Oval precinct page to see all the architect’s impressions.
Revitalising this precinct will create a new home for sport, culture and community in the heart of Hawthorn. It will make better use of this much-loved local place and help more people get together and take part in activities there.
The ground-level sports facilities will be used for a mix of community sport, including women’s community-level Australian Rules football and junior football. The multipurpose spaces will be used by community groups for meetings, group activities, presentations and other gatherings.
We expect construction to start later this year, after we award the construction contract. We’ll share another update before works begin, including more information about timing and what the community can expect during construction.
Last year we demolished the Ferguson Stand and made 500 square metres of landscaped open space in its place. There’s a grassy area looking over Glenferrie Oval, play equipment, a picnic table and seating.
