Swap a car trip for public transport

Did you know an express train from Camberwell station can get you to Parliament station in as little as 12 minutes?

Public transport is free throughout Victoria until the end of May. From 1 June it’s half-price until the end of the year. Young people under 18 can always travel free on Victorian public transport, and seniors enjoy discounts too.

Drive together

Share a car ride with neighbours, friends or work colleagues going the same way. This is a great option for commuting to work or getting to school, training or sports events.

Use car share

Sign up for a car-share service and book a car when you need one instead of owning it. GoGet, Flexicar and Popcar operate in parts of Boroondara. Full-time Swinburne University students can access P-plate-friendly GoGet cars near campus with fuel, insurance and 24/7 roadside assistance included.

Walk or ride on our shared paths

We have more than 35 km of off-road formal shared paths – including the Gardiners Creek and Main Yarra trails – and 75 km of gravel paths to help you get around safely to playgrounds, parks, shops or cafes. Find your best route using our TravelSmart maps.

Learn all you need to know to get started with an e-bike in this workshop – from e-bike types to how to charge the battery safely. Plus you can take an e-bike for a test ride.
