The Victorian Government is continuing work on the North East Link (NEL) project. Disruptions to the Eastern Freeway and surrounding road network are expected as works progress. To keep informed, we encourage you to:

• check for the latest updates on Victoria’s Big Build website
• plan ahead during closures
• seek alternative routes and allow extra time.

Road closure final weekend of March

From 10 pm this Friday 27 March to 5 am Monday 30 March, the Eastern Freeway will be closed in both directions between Bulleen and Doncaster roads.

Delays of up to 60 minutes are expected during peak travel times. We encourage you to plan ahead.

The Eastern Freeway Burke to Tram Alliance crews will be lifting and installing steel beams over the freeway lanes. Weather conditions and other factors may affect their progress. If they can’t complete the planned works, they may reschedule to another weekend.

Bulleen Mega Lift BBQ

Not far from Boroondara, the NEL team invites you to find out more about their upcoming ‘Mega Lift’ at a free BBQ event in Bulleen this Saturday 28 March.

The Mega Lift will see 12 steel beams, totalling 1,080 tonnes lifted into place over the Eastern Freeway, to support the Bulleen Road interchange upgrades.

If you have questions or want to learn more about the next stage of works, this event is a great opportunity to chat to the NEL project team and to check out construction progress.

You can find the Bulleen Park and Ride on the other side of the Eastern Freeway, near Bulleen Road. 
This is a family and pet-friendly event for all ages.
