Our 2026-27 Budget shows how we’ll invest in the services, projects and infrastructure our community values most.
It supports the refreshed Boroondara Community Plan 2025-2035, shaped by more than 5,600 community contributions and helps guide our work towards a healthy, connected and sustainable Boroondara.
At the core of the 2026-27 budget are the services residents rely upon every single day, from bin collection, library services, to maintenance of open spaces.
Council is also continuing strong investment to maintain Boroondara’s parks, gardens, biodiversity and street trees maintenance with $26.26 million earmarked to continue protecting and enhancing our local environment.
Councillor Wes Gault, Mayor of Boroondara said that the new budget delivered on what matters most to the community, and thanked them for their feedback throughout the consultation process.
“For me, this budget is our commitment to ensuring that Boroondara remains a place where people of all ages can live full, connected, and happy lives.
As elected councillors, we carry the great responsibility of managing an operating budget of approximately $290 million in the year ahead.
However, this budget was not created and finalised by us in isolation. In the spirit of transparency and good governance, a draft of this budget was shared with our community for feedback.
Thank you to everyone who took the time to share their views. Your voices matter, and your opinions have helped shape this budget, as well as budgets to come.”
This year’s budget includes investing $14 million over the next 4 years to finalising and implementing the Greenways Plan, to connect and expand our shared-use path network.
The Boroondara Vibrant Shopping Centres Program will include an investment of $1.60 million to support local traders and enhance the look, feel and functionality of our retail precincts.
A total of $2.32 million in upgrades to play spaces at Fordham Gardens, Mont Albert Park and Reservoir Reserve play spaces, delivering safer, more inclusive and engaging play environments to support physical activity, social connection and child development.
The final budget was adopted by councillors following a period of consultation and feedback from community members.
