City of Boroondara is proud to be part of this year’s National Trust Australian Heritage Festival from 18 April to 18 May, with a variety of fun, informative activities for everyone to enjoy.The festival invites us to explore Boroondara’s diverse stories, culture and ever-evolving landscapes and social history. This year’s theme of 'Change' encourages Australians to reflect on how history shapes us – and how we’re shaping history in return.
Over the years, ‘heritage’ has been most often linked to the historic buildings that characterise our neighbourhoods. But Boroondara’s unique built form is just one thread in a rich tapestry of heritage that also include:
Heritage is visible in the parks, gardens and waterways we treasure; in renowned nineteenth- and twentieth-century streetscapes and architecture; and in art and civic collections that tell the story of our past.
