Reception opening hours

The reception counter at the Canterbury Community Precinct is open weekdays (Monday to Friday) from 9 am to 4 pm. Reception is closed on public holidays.

Community services

Canterbury Neighbourhood Centre is a neighbourhood centre that offers a wide range of programs and activities for community members of all ages and abilities. Find out more on the Canterbury Neighbourhood Centre website.

Historical societies

• Canterbury History Group – collects and preserves the history and heritage of Canterbury and promotes it in the community. Find out more on the Canterbury History Group website.
• Surrey Hills Historical Society – collects and preserves the history and heritage of Surrey Hills and Mont Albert and promotes it in the community. Find out more on the Surrey Hills Historical Society website. 

Both groups operate from the Maling Heritage Centre, which is part of the Canterbury Community Precinct. The building is located at 190 Canterbury Road, Canterbury.

About St Paul's Anglican Kindergarten

St Paul’s is a warm, welcoming and positive environment for children. It is a place where learning is fun and enduring friendships are made.

3-year-old kindergarten program (Garden room)

Rainbow group

This program offers 13 hours of free kinder per week.

4-year-old kindergarten program (Garden room)

Red group

This program offers 15 hours of free kinder per week and 4.5 hours of additional optional hours.

Pre-prep program (Sky room)

This program offers 15 hours of free kinder per week and 11 additional hours.

2026 fees per term

The Victorian Government Free Kinder initiative is available at this kindergarten. Concession rates are not applicable.

3-year-old kindergarten program:

• Rainbow free kinder hours (13 hours per week): Free 

4-year-old kindergarten program:

• Red free kinder hours (15 hours per week): Free
• Red optional additional hours (4.5 hours per week): $750 

Pre-prep program:

• Pre-prep (26 hours per week) includes 15 free kinder hours and 11 additional hours: $1,430 

2026 deposits

• 3-year-old kindergarten enrolment deposit: $350 (refundable upon commencement or taken as a donation in term 1).
• 4-year-old kindergarten enrolment deposit: $360 (credited to term 1 fees).
• Pre-prep enrolment deposit:  $650 (credited to term 1 fees).

Voluntary contributions

$300 per year to cover maintenance, kindergarten equipment and administration.

Early childhood education and care services are assessed and rated against the National Quality Standard (NQS) to:

• promote continuous improvement in the provision of quality education and care
• improve knowledge and access to information about the quality of services to help families make informed decisions about their child’s education and care.

About Canterbury Gardens Kindergarten

A kindergarten where experienced, passionate teachers and co-educators strive to provide a magical year for each child. The stimulating play-based program is open-ended, flexible and responsive to the children’s interests and individual levels of development. 

The program includes music time, special days (for example, grandparents day), gardening, an end of year concert and many more exciting experiences.

Canterbury Gardens has a raised rotunda offering magnificent views of the gardens. This makes the venue ideal for weddings.

About the gardens

Canterbury Gardens was designed in the Gardenesque style from the early 1900s. With beautiful gardens, plenty of shade and a magnificent rotunda, it is perfect for weddings, celebrations and gatherings.

Mature trees dot the extensive lawns and complement the fine perennial borders, parterre gardens and a rosarie. A path and bridge move through an avenue of weeping cherry trees to a raised rotunda with commanding garden views.

The venue has hosted Carols by Candlelight since 1940. It's also a popular setting for events during the year, including our Summer Music performances.

Boroondara Park offers a generous grass space with mature trees. This makes it ideal for walks and large gatherings.

About the park

Boroondara Park is one of the largest sections of the Outer Circle Linear Park, which forms a series of linking pathways throughout the municipality.

Beautiful native and exotic plants attract a variety of birds to the park, while its main pathway is lined by gum trees.
