Does your child love LEGO? The Intergenerational LEGO Club is a supportive weekly program where children aged 6–12 are paired with trained teen mentors (15–18) to build, create, and connect—brick by brick.

This program is especially helpful for children who are shy, or socially isolated, offering a gentle and fun way to practice social skills in a safe, structured space.

This program is free with Craig Family Centre membership. Thursdays 4 to 5 pm.

The club organises day trips to locations outside Melbourne on a quarterly basis.
The trips include visits to places of interest, lunch and, in some cases, opportunities to do some shopping.

The trips are on the last Wednesday of the month in February, May, August and November.

The trips are open to members. and those who are interested in joining but would like to try out some activities first

Song Haven is a choir for anyone living with dementia, where music becomes a means for connection, expression and joy.

In a supportive environment, choir members will (re)discover the power of song as it enables us to build new memories and friendships through shared melodies.

No prior musical experience is required. Caregivers and family members can participate alongside their loved ones.

The Mah Jong members are a friendly group who meet every Monday morning. While winning games is a bonus, building friendships and socialising is more important.

New members are always welcome.

A small fee is payable on the day of attendance.

On the second Thursday of each moth, club members meet for lunch at venues chosen from locations withing the Boroondara vicinity.

The lunches provide opportunities for members to try different food options and enjoy some social interaction.

Inviting all community members to come and join a fun local walking group and explore the local areas around Surrey Hills.

Walks will take place every Wednesday morning, leaving at 9 am. Meet at the Balwyn Community Centre for a 45 minute to 1 hour walk around the neighbourhood and botanical gardens.

Membership to the Balwyn Community Centre is $16 per year, which then covers all walks and a cuppa and chat afterwards.

A great way to get your steps in, meet others in the area, explore some of the local neighbourhood and see what's on offer at the Balwyn Community Centre.

Please wear comfy shoes and be dressed for the weather (eg. hat and sunscreen or jacket).

Do you find book-clubs leave you wanting more? Are you seeking a more in-depth exploration into literary works? Would you like to share your love of literature with like-minded souls?

Then this course is for you!

Led by Barbara Boxhall, a passionate literature teacher of over 30 years, this course will take you deep into the themes, language and composition of classic and contemporary literary works.

Classes are composed of a small group of literature lovers who will enjoy discussing, analyzing and appreciating the nuances and hidden threads and themes that make up a literary work. Barbara will lead a discussion which invites participants to read, explore and contribute.

You will build connections with your class mates, authors and literary works as well as enjoying a thought-provoking afternoon.

The course runs once every term for 6-weeks on Tuesday afternoons 1pm - 3pm, during which time you will focus on one key text supplemented by other smaller literary pieces.

Practice the Mandarin language through the art of song. This fun and lively group love to explore the Chinese culture through singing Chinese folk songs.
