Boroondara’s 1000 Books Before School program encourages parents and pre-school children to start their literacy journey, and commit to reading 1000 books together, before the first day of school.

Whether it’s a book you’ve read together at home, a story from kinder, a library storytime session, or one that’s been read multiple times before, log them all in your 1000 Books Before School reading passport, complete activities and earn rewards along the way.

Our skate and BMX parks offer great spaces for skateboarding and BMX track riding, as well as lessons, competitions and regular programs for school groups and school holidays.

We have incredible parks in Boroondara, many with playgrounds and play equipment suitable for all ages.

Cultivate creativity at Boroondara Arts through our learning program. We are committed to providing creative experiences for young people and families through a year-round program of exhibitions, tours, workshops and online resources for primary students. Our education team offers teacher resources to inspire students and meet curriculum outcomes.

Come for a stroll and reduce your mental load with our free community walking group. Our walking group is inclusive, supportive and flexible. This is a great opportunity to connect with your local community and enjoy a home-cooked meal. You don't need to register for the walks, just join us whenever you feel like it.
