Balwyn Park is suitable for celebrations and casual social gatherings.

The park features beautiful heritage trees and open spaces on a natural incline, offering magnificent city views. 

Before you book
You can book a grass area in the park for your exclusive use.

We require at least 5 full business days notice.

You can apply to bring:
– up to 20 chairs and 2 tables
– a marquee or arbour covering up to 30 square metres.

Public facilities are free for all park visitors to use. They are not included as part of a booking.

Playground

The playground has a great range of games and activities for all ages including:

  • an outdoor gym
  • a multipurpose court space
  • a foosball table
  • a table tennis table.

Content components

Parking and transport

The car park is located off Whitehorse Road. There is on-street parking along Cherry Road. 

The 109 tram stops near the Whitehorse Road entrance.

Booking times

7 days including public holidays.

April to October: 8 am to 6 pm.

November to March: 8 am to 8:30 pm.

Accessibility

A wheelchair-accessible barbecue is located at the east end of the Reserve near the playground.

Alexandra Gardens, Canterbury Gardens, Surrey Gardens$170 per hour (includes exclusive use of the rotunda). Commercial hire fee $1800.00 per day.
Central Gardens, Wallen Road Reserve and Maranoa Botanic Gardens$170 per hour. Commercial hire fee $1800.00 per day.
All other parks and gardens$170 per 4-hour block. Commercial hire fee $1800.00 per day.
Event bondminimum $200
