Discover a range of online newspapers and magazines, free with your library membership, or read a printed copy of the latest news at your local library branch. Some of the online services below are only available when using a library PC or logged on to library wi-fi. 

Online newspapers and magazines

For some online publications, you need your library membership details.

  • Your 10-14 digit membership number is under the barcode on your library card.
  • Your 6-digit PIN is your date of birth in DDMMYY format.

The Age

A digital copy of The Age printed newspaper.

Back-issues are available for up to 6 months.

To log in at home, go to The Age and enter your membership number and PIN.

To log in at the library, go to The Age while using a library PC or while connected to the library Wi-Fi on your laptop or mobile device.

The British Newspaper Archive

Historical news reports, family notices, letters to the editor, obituaries and advertisements from newspapers in the United Kingdom.

There is a limit of 2 concurrent users at a time.

To log in, go to The British Newspaper Archive while using a library PC or while connected to the library Wi-Fi on your laptop or mobile device.

First time users need to register for a free account.

Flipster

Read current and archived editions of Choice and Choice Computer magazines.

To use Flipster on a PC or laptop, go to Flipster and enter your library membership number.

To access back-issues, select the current edition and click All issues.

To use Flipster on a phone or tablet:

  1. Go to the App Store or Google Play and search for the word Flipster.
  2. Download the app.
  3. Tap Get started.
  4. Search for and select City of Boroondara Library Service.
  5. Sign in using your library membership number.
