Strzelecki Koala Action Team Koalathon

Event details

Walk, run or bike-a-thon to raise awareness and funds to save the Strzelecki Koala from extinction.

This is the 2nd event of its kind. We first did it in March 2025. It was fun and very successful.

The course again runs 5 km from Darling Park Basil Reserve in Malvern East to Patterson Reserve (off Reserve Road and next to the Hawthorn velodrome) and return. Complete the whole course, or part of it. Get sponsored to raise additional funds.

One can also help by making a donation. All funds will go towards saving the Strzelecki Koala. This is the only remaining population of genetically diverse koalas in the southern parts of Australia. It is estimated that only 2000 remain and they are key to survival of the species.

For more information and registration, go to the Koalathon website.
