This session will cover how the centre is creating opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration to create a future where First Nations people can live in homes that truly represent their culture, values, and hopes for the future.The Indigenous Building Co-Fabrication Centre at Swinburne University is an exciting new initiative designed to tackle important issues experienced by Indigenous Australians, including unfair housing conditions and social isolation. The aim of the Centre is to develop and test new building materials and techniques that will lower construction costs while making homes and shared spaces more eco-friendly.About the speakerProfessor John Evans is the inaugural Pro Vice-Chancellor Indigenous Engagement responsible for leading, guiding and governing the strategic direction of Swinburne University of Technology in relation to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander initiatives and strategies.
