Book Giving Tree

This Christmas, we’re teaming up with You Matter for our annual book-giving program. You Matter provides support to women and children who have experienced family violence.

How you can contribute

• Purchase a new book, ideally from a local Boroondara bookstore.
• Donate your book at the customer service desk at any of our local libraries.
• Make your book donation before 5pm on Monday 14 December.

All books will be given to women and children to enjoy throughout the new year.

Not sure what to choose? The following types of books are always welcome:

• Young children aged 3 to 9
Colourful picture books, activity, puzzle, colouring and engaging fact books. Popular themes include dinosaurs, animals, sport and First Nations stories.
• Children aged 7 to 12
Graphic novels, humorous chapter books, adventure, fantasy and First Nations stories. Fact books on popular topics such as animals, dinosaurs and science experiments.
• Teenagers aged 13 to 17
Teen and young adult fiction, particularly popular genres such as fantasy and coming-of-age stories. Biographies, meditation colouring books and puzzles are also well-received.
• Women who may be mothers and caregivers
Uplifting fiction, biographies and inspiring stories of resilience and empowerment. Practical hobby books on interests such as gardening, craft, knitting, sewing, cooking, sport and meditation, and journals for writing.
