Birrarung Riverfest Krefft's Glider Check 2026

We invite you to come along and join us for our monthly hollow check for our resident Krefft's gliders. 

Meeting point: Willsmere Billabong (Junction of Main Yarra Trail and Darebin Creek Trail).

We will be on hand to help you spot, learn about and record your sightings, as we focus on the amazing gliders that call Boroondara home.

Please wear appropriate clothing and shoes for an outdoor walk along uneven ground. Please bring a water bottle and be prepared for the weather. 

Please note, there will be no handling of wildlife during the hollow checks and participants will be required to remain on the paths as requested by Council staff. 

Staff will access the hollows with cameras and participants will assist with viewing hollows from camera screens and data collection from a small distance on paths. No participants will be required/approved to enter bushland under any circumstances.

This is part of an ongoing monthly monitoring project and we would love your help with this data collection.
