Just Theatre

The Just Theatre is suitable for:

The Theatre also has a foyer space that can be used for registrations, which is included as part of your booking.

Self-catering is available for community and commercial hirers in Just Theatre. You can bring your own food and use our kitchenette as part of your booking.

To supply your own alcohol you will need to present a valid liquor license. Alcohol can also be provided and served by Essential Catering & Events.

Compulsory staff hire

A fire warden-trained supervisor is required for all bookings.

Some restrictions apply for alcohol service and noise.

The room includes:

theatrical lighting and PA system
black stage curtains
adjoining dressing room
kitchen access including oven, stove, and sink facilities.

The Just Theatre has limited public Wi-Fi access and it may not be suitable for your event. If your event depends on reliable Wi-Fi access, we recommend using your own data connection.

Public parking is available on Fenton Avenue and Walpole Street.

Accessibility

There is an accessible toilet.

Accessible parking is available in the Fenton Ave public car park.

Guide and companion dogs are welcome throughout the venue.

Kew Court House supports the Companion Card Scheme. Hirers of this room presenting ticketed events are required to adopt the scheme for their events.

If you or one of your members or participants have access requirements, please discuss with the Event Coordinator during the booking process to make sure your needs are properly addressed.

Booking conditions

Payment

Full payment is required prior to your event.
Late cancellation fees apply.

Insurance

You need to have a minimum of $20 million in public liability insurance to hire this room. You may be eligible for insurance through Council. Please discuss this with us when you make your booking.

Community rates

To qualify for community rates for community hire, you will need to meet the following criteria:

a not-for-profit community group that possesses articles of incorporation as a non-profit organisation
located in the City of Boroondara, with a registered organisation address in Boroondara
at least 75% of your community group’s members are Boroondara residents.

Room clean-up

All sets, props and equipment brought into the venue should be removed by the end of your booking time.
If the room is not left clean, you may be charged for additional cleaning.
