When you join the library you'll be given a membership card with a unique 14-digit membership number (borrower ID) and barcode on the back.
If you prefer, you can ask the librarian to change your membership number to a user name or email address.
This username won't appear on your membership card.
PIN and password
When you join, you'll be given a 6-digit PIN. This number is your date of birth in the DDMMYY format. For example, if you were born on 8 September 1956, your 6-digit PIN is 080956.
If you prefer, you can change this PIN number to a password.
When you are asked for your password, you can use your PIN or your chosen password.
Forgotten your password?
If you changed your password from the default PIN number (date of birth) and have forgotten your password, you can reset it.
It's a good idea to add an email address to your account to make this easier. See sign up to receive email notifications from the library for instructions on how to do this.
Using your card
You don't need a PIN number or password to borrow, reserve or renew items in person at our libraries.
You do need a PIN number or password if you want to:
- borrow, reserve or renew items online
- use or borrow any online resources
- request a new library item
- book a library computer or study room.
To do any of these things, you'll need to log in to your account using:
- your membership number (borrower ID) or your user name
- your PIN number or password.
