‘In the Neighbourhood’ is an ode to Boroondara’s places and spaces. Featuring artists Yee Ann Chiu, Aimee Li, and Charmaine Macdonald, this community exhibition interprets the local beauty around us with fondness and awe.
The paintings of Yee Ann Chiu present mythic tales of local landmarks, posing the possibility of fairies in Kew Cemetery and giants at the Camberwell Sunday Market. Through the delicate medium of watercolour, Aimee Li invites visitors to explore and appreciate the captivating beauty of Boroondara's significant heritage buildings. Charmaine Macdonald’s prints feature empty shopfronts that have taken on unexpected lives after being unoccupied, cultivating natural phenomena amongst obsolete objects.
From vacant shop fronts and heritage buildings to imagining the local flora and fauna coming to life, ‘In the Neighbourhood’ presents a love letter to Boroondara.
Featuring: Yee Ann Chiu, Aimee Li, and Charmaine Macdonald.
