Event details
Experience the wit and whimsy of Australian artist Eric Thake in an exhibition of engravings, linocuts, and photographs from the Town Hall Gallery Collection.
Born in Auburn, Victoria, in 1904, and trained at the National Gallery Art School, Thake was well known for his designs and illustrations offering stylistic interpretations of Australian life. The exhibition features Christmas cards produced by Thake from 1941 to 1975 as a vehicle for the artist’s sense of humour.
‘A Message from our Sponsor - the Works of Eric Thake’ celebrates both the versatility of Eric Thake as an artist and Town Hall Gallery Collection’s commitment to acquiring works by significant Australian artists who lived and created in the area.
Items from the Collection can be viewed online via the Town Hall Gallery Collection database.
