Activities for seniors

Meet for lively discussions on books, films, community activities and events. Every second Tuesday of the month.

Located at Alamein railway station. Open to Boroondara men, all ages and by invitation. Booking required - please contact us to book. Runs weekly on Tuesdays from 9:30 am to 11:30 am and from 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm. Cost: $30 per term or $2 per session.

Unlock your ability to bounce back from life’s challenges. Learn practical techniques (Tai Chi, Meditation) and mindset shifts to build emotional strength, adaptability and confidence to thrive in the face of adversity.

Acrylic Painting, Botanical Watercolour Illustration, Chinese Brush Painting, Natural History Illustration and more! Your local neighbourhood house is online and ready to support you in your creative pursuits.

The Alamein Neighbourhood & Learning Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) provides social support activities for local residents aged 65 years and over. Assistance may be available with transport.

Activities include:

Armchair travel
Coffee outings at local cafes
Information sessions
Guest speakers
Gentle exercise

To participate, you must be over 65 years of age and be registered with My Aged Care. Potential participants can contact My Aged Care directly on 1800 200 422 to register and /or request an assessment and referral to our service.

Learn language skills tailored for daily tasks, from reading labels to filling out forms. Gain confidence in navigating real-world situations, understanding Australian culture, enhancing independence and participation in society.

We welcome new students at anytime, however, you will need an interview with the co-ordinator before enrolling.

The course will help improve your skills in English through conversation, reading, writing, speaking and listening.

The course is run at a pre-intermediate level. (Levels 1-2)

You can’t travel abroad just yet, but you sure can brush up on those language skills in preparation for when you can! Chinese, English, Italian, French and German, it’s all available at your local neighbourhood house .
