Chatty Cafe is a program that recognises how the simple act of having a chat over a cuppa can really brighten someone's day. It encourages connections in the community by getting people talking to one another.

The aim of Chatty Café Australia is to help connect communities and increase social interactions by getting people chatting – either in their favourite local neighbourhood social venues or while travelling through other Aussie communities to meet the local folk.

Chatty Café is about building friendly social connections – through simple interactions that may brighten someone’s day. Everyone is welcome at our Chatty Café!

Attending the group is free, once you’ve signed up for Centre membership (which is $20 per calendar year).

Chatty Café meets Monday, weekly at Surrey Hills Neighbourhood Centre from 10am-11am, during school term.

The North Balwyn Community Men's Shed (NBCMS) is a fully equipped workshop for people to come and share tools, fellowship and enjoy the satisfaction of producing quality products. Everyone is welcome at NBCMS whether you're an expert in woodworking or a complete novice looking for social interaction.

Our beginners combined Qi Gong/Tai Chi exercise is a powerful system integrating physical postures, breathing techniques and focus.

Our program for older people aim to improve health and wellbeing, strengthen friendship networks and reduce isolation and loneliness. We accept referrals from health professionals, family members or self-referral. Booking is required - please contact us to book. This program is only available to My Aged Care recipients, with preference given to local residents of Balwyn and surrounding suburbs. We can also help you get to the Centre and back home safely, simply ask about our Transport Service, available upon request. Contact us to find out more. Runs weekly on Fridays from 10 am to 3 pm.

A fun, low impact class aimed at participants aged 50+. This class consists of an aerobic component, followed by resistance work, small ball exercises, step and balance activities. Runs on Mondays and Thursdays from 12 pm to 1 pm. Contact Ashburton Pool and Recreation Centre for the cost and more details.
