BASSCare Chambly Hall, Camberwell Decoupage – Balwyn Community Centre Days: Monday Location: Balwyn Community Centre, 412 Whitehorse Road Surrey Hills Decoupage is a decorative and timeless art which originated in Venice in the 18th Century. It follows ancient techniques developed by skilled artisans of the era. Decoupage is created by using cut-out paper images assembled on an object with a painted background such as, wood, ceramics, glass, eggs, jewellery, and anything else which has a hard surface. During class you will learn all aspects of Decoupage such as, techniques on how to cut, design, paint, (with brushes and sea sponges) glue, varnish, sand, and how to obtain a beautiful finish. Suitable for all levels. We are a small club with a current membership of 32 that we are seeking to increase by about 50%. Being small we have far more interaction between members than in the large Probus Clubs and despite our size, several very active interest groups. Except for December, our meetings are held on the third Monday of the month from 10 am to 12 pm and usually include an interesting Speaker, followed by an optional lunch at a nearby cafe. Other activities and outings include local and longer excursions to places of interest, book club, walks, and cinema, theatre and craft groups. At least 2 “special” lunches are held during the year. Membership costs are currently $70 pa, plus a $15 joining fee.
