Writers are individually linked to an encourager, who reads the writer's work and offers constructive feedback. Multiple sessions are available. Caring volunteers provide a friendly and welcoming environment to socialise and meet new people. You can do activities at the Centre before or after. Lunches are held at BASSCARE North Balwyn Seniors Centre. South Camberwell Senior Centre gathering Days: Thursday A regular fortnight gathering inviting Chinese elderly participants to build community cohesion promoting general health and wellness.Meetings will be held onsite every 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month starting 9 October. Featured activities will include: healthy exercises for the elderly, special topics of community interest, birthday parties, games, English classes and music classes. We'll continue as long as there is community interest. $15 per session. University of the Third Age (U3A) Deepdene Days: Monday Location: University of the Third Age (U3A) Deepdene, Balwyn Park Centre, 206A Whitehorse Road Balwyn Our U3A is a welcoming environment that aims to provide learning opportunities and social interaction for retired and semi-retired members of the community. We hold activities from Monday to Friday each week. There is a wide range of classes and activities on offer and presenters are drawn from both outside and within the member group. We run over 70 full year courses – languages, exercise and walking groups, literature and film groups, music courses, art classes, extending your thinking sessions, history groups and travel presentations. These are all led by member tutors. Plus more than 80 short courses each term presented by local, interstate, and international lecturers. University of the Third Age (U3A) Hawthorn Days: Monday Location: University of the Third Age (U3A) Hawthorn, 26 Sinclair Avenue Glen Iris U3A Hawthorn, established in 1984, is a nonprofit, community, self-help organization which provides a range of adult education courses, recreational activities and excursions for retired and semi-retired people. U3A Hawthorn was established for people in their third age who are over the age of 55 and are retired or are semi-retired. Our mission is to provide opportunities for seniors to learn, teach, share and to give mutual support to each other in a friendly and warm environment, regardless of ethnicity, religion, ability or disability. Our courses cover a wide range of interest areas, from academic to physical and artistic activities. Our members enjoy both the intellectual engagement and the social aspect of our courses.
