2.1 Classical Vocal Solo – 18 years and under

Time limit: 6 minutes
Requirements: Music of own choice within classical styles of vocal music.
Prizes: 1st – $90, 2nd - $55, 3rd – $30

2.2 Oratorio/Cantata Solo – Open

Time limit: 6 minutes
Requirements: Oratorio or cantata of own choice
Prizes: 1st – $125, 2nd – $75, 3rd – $50

Accompaniment requirements have been lifted for all sections. If competitors wish to perform unaccompanied, there will be no penalty. However, if competitors have booked an official accompanist with their original entry, accompanists will still be available to record and send you a backing track to perform with or accompany you live, complying with applicable Covid-19 safety restrictions.

Please contact accompanists directly to arrange your backing track recording or live accompaniment session.

The accompanist fee is payable at the time of entry and covers the performance only. The official accompanist must be advised of repertoire directly by the entrant no later than 14 days prior to the scheduled event. Rehearsals are strongly encouraged and are to be arranged privately with the accompanist. These will incur additional fees as determined by the accompanist.

Entrants may use their own accompanist by private arrangement.

2.3 Art Song/Lieder Solo – Open

2.4 Classical Vocal Championship - Open

Dates: To be confirmed
Time limit: Heats – 8 minutes
Final – 12 minutes

Requirements: Heats – One operatic aria of own choice.
Final – Finalists must perform the operatic aria from their heats together with one other contrasting classical piece of own choice (for example, lieder or art song) which has not been sung in any other section at this year’s Eisteddfod.
Eligibility: Participants must have also performed in either Section 2.1, 2.2 or 2.3
Prizes: 1st – $800, 2nd – $500, 3rd – $300
