Hawthorn Arts Centre is the flagship destination for cultural and civic celebrations for the City of Boroondara.

The Hawthorn Arts Centre is an ideal venue for a range of community and corporate events with its diverse spaces for hire and intriguing mix of contemporary and traditional design.

The Centre offers flexible function spaces, meeting rooms and display spaces, audio-visual facilities, a ticketing and box office service, professional on-site event support staff and catering services.

All public areas of the Hawthorn Arts Centre are fully wheelchair accessible.

Hire rates

All Hawthorn Arts Centre bookings are for a minimum of 3 hours, unless otherwise noted. Note that the fees don't include staffing or catering.

We offer subsidised rates to:

  • not-for-profit community groups
  • community groups located within the City of Boroondara
  • community groups with 75 per cent or greater membership of City of Boroondara residents.

Catering

Full catering services are provided by our onsite caterer Epicure, who can help plan your event to perfection. The Epicure team are experts in providing the finest hospitality services for a wide variety of events, including gala events, lunches, conferences, workshops, weddings and school events.

Ticketing services

We provide a full box office and ticketing service for all performance-style events. Patrons can buy tickets online, over the phone or in person. Workshop-style events may not be required to use this service.

Note that there is a fee for ticketing services.

Marketing and promotional services

We offer a range of complimentary marketing and promotional services if you are presenting medium to large events at the centre, including displays on our digital screens, flyer display and website listing.

We also have tables to display merchandise related to your event or performance.

Support staff

You can hire a supervising technician, front of house and duty manager, box office staff, and up to three event staff.
