Health and safety measures

We have introduced the following health and safety measures to reduce the transmission of coronavirus (COVID-19), in line with the Chief Health Officer’s advice:

  • Visitors must have their temperature checked before entering.
  • Visitors must clean their hands as they enter (we’ll provide the hand sanitiser).
  • Visitors must adhere to social distancing of 1.5 metres at all times.
  • Visitors must adhere to social density numbers (one person per 4 square metres).

Hawthorn Arts Centre is the flagship destination for cultural and civic celebrations for the City of Boroondara.

The Hawthorn Arts Centre is an ideal venue for a range of community and corporate events, with its diverse spaces for hire and intriguing mix of contemporary and traditional design.

The Centre offers flexible function spaces, meeting rooms and display spaces, audio-visual facilities, a ticketing and box office service, professional on-site event support staff and catering services.

All public areas of the Hawthorn Arts Centre are fully wheelchair accessible.

Hire rates

All Hawthorn Arts Centre bookings are for a minimum of 3 hours, unless otherwise noted. Note that the fees don't include staffing or catering.

We offer subsidised rates to groups that meet the following criteria:

  • not-for-profit community groups
  • located within the City of Boroondara
  • 75 per cent or greater membership is made up of Boroondara residents.

Space for up to 60 people. Features an outdoor portico. This was once the mayor's private room.

Catering

Hawthorn Arts Centre’s in-house caterers provide catering and event coordination services. The team can assist you in delivering an exciting event experience. With a focus on fresh, local and sustainable food and beverages, the caterers will provide delicious menus to complement your event.

The catering menus are suitable for a wide range of events, including meetings and conferences as well as gala dinners and extravagant weddings. Bespoke menus for your specific requirements can also be created.

Ticketing services

We provide a full box office and ticketing service for all performance-style events. Patrons can buy tickets online, over the phone or in person. Workshop-style events may not be required to use this service.

Note that there is a fee for ticketing services.

Marketing and promotional services

We offer complementary marketing and promotional services if you are presenting medium to large events at the centre, including displays on our digital screens, flyer display and website listing.

We also have tables to display merchandise related to your event or performance.

Support staff

You can hire a supervising technician, front of house and duty manager, box office staff and up to three event staff.
