07/27/2025 2:30 pm 07/27/2025 3:50 pm Unsung Heroes Under the direction of Conductor, Douglas Heywood OAM, the Camberwell Chorale and Camerata Orchestra proudly present Michael Easton’s Symphony No 1, 'Unsung Heroes' and 'Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini' Op 43 by Sergei Rachmaninoff.Easton’s compelling 'Unsung Heroes' is based on the poetry of 6 famous English poets who served in WWI. It is the composer's personal reflection on the horror of war and its ultimate uselessness. First written in 1990, this symphony was specifically dedicated by the Composer to Camberwell Chorale and its Musical Director, Douglas Heywood.This performance is in recognition of the 80th Anniversary of the end of WWII. It will feature soloists Lauren Oldham (Soprano) and Adam Miller (Baritone).Rachmaninoff’s glorious 'Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini' was inspired by a simple tune by early 19th century violin virtuoso, Niccolo Paganini. Considered one of the finest pianists of his day and as a composer one of the last great representatives of Romanticism in Russian classical music. Rachmaninoff composed this work in 1934, receiving an overwhelming public response when it premiered the same year.For this performance, we welcome soloist Chutong Yi, winner of the Piano Concerto Competition at the 2024 Boroondara Eisteddfod. , City of Boroondara [email protected] Australia/Melbourne public

Under the direction of Conductor, Douglas Heywood OAM, the Camberwell Chorale and Camerata Orchestra proudly present Michael Easton’s Symphony No 1, 'Unsung Heroes' and 'Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini' Op 43 by Sergei Rachmaninoff.
