Event details
From the beating heart of Melbourne, a sound rises - raw, hypnotic and fiercely alive. This is Bashka!
Bashka blends traditional Turkish melodies with modern beats, creating an electrifying fusion of East and West. Their music is a celebration of culture, rhythm and resistance. Drawing inspiration from Anatolian folk, 70s psychedelic rock, old school grooves, gritty beats and modern electronica, Bashka’s sound breaks boundaries and moves bodies.
Since their Music Victoria/Age Awards nominated debut album “Fihi Ma Fihi” (2016), Bashka has been releasing singles; “Bazen Var Bazen Yok” and “Galaksi” with Erci E (Germany); “Gönül Salıncağı” and “Time to Disobey” with ElfTranzporter and “Burn It Down” with One Sixth and their latest single “Blow Out The Lamp” are testament to their evolving sound and style.
Quoted as “Exotic and infectiously danceable!” by PBS radio in Melbourne, Bashka’s live performances mix electronic beats and live loops with instruments. Bashka have performed at many major festivals such as WOMADelaide, Milyon Fest (Turkey), Melbourne International Women’s Jazz Festival and Brunswick Music Festival, and local and international venues such as The Corner Hotel, Howler, Northcote Social Club, Babylon Istanbul, Peyote Eskisehir, EskiYeni Ankara and many more. Bashka is currently collaborating with new artists from Europe and Australia and producing new singles as well as preparing to hit local and international stages hard in 2025 and beyond.
