About the exhibition
This bold new exhibition challenges traditional concepts of still life, showcasing a diverse range of artists who push the boundaries of the genre. With a focus on contemporary expression, the exhibition offers an exciting departure from the conventional, using painting, video, sculpture and installation to explore everyday objects and scenes in unexpected ways.
The featured artists each bring a unique vision to the genre. Familiar objects are transformed through abstraction and everyday forms are elevated into striking visual experiences. Installations examine the relationship between nature and the artificial, and personal narratives add a sense of intimacy and familiarity to the inanimate objects.
Through humour, whimsy and bold experimentation, the artists re-energise the still life genre, inviting audiences to engage with the ordinary in unexpected and imaginative ways. This playful approach challenges the boundaries of traditional still life and encourages a vibrant dialogue between art and perception. The result is still life by definition - but not as you know it.
Featuring: Tony Albert, Sally Anderson, Nadine Christensen, Adam John Cullen, James McGrath and Louise Paramor.
