'A Sense of Place' by Caroline Calway – online exhibition

Encapsulating the vastness of the land alongside the small and beautiful details within it, ‘A Sense of Place’ by Caroline Calway is a community exhibition bearing witness to Dalmanyi (Bell Gorge) within the Kimberley region of Western Australia.

Dalmanyi is one of the most famous gorges along the Gibb River Road, located within the Wunaamin Miliwundi Ranges Conservation Park.

Calway’s paintings capture a sense of light and quiet movement emulating the energy running through the land.

Moments of realism and abstraction lend to the overall impression of the scenes depicted across her vibrant and reverent pieces. ‘A Sense of Place’ immerses viewers in vivid and gestural paintings honouring the majesty of Dalmanyi.

Caroline Calway is the winner of the 2022 Boroondara Arts Encouragement Award, awarded annually to a local exhibitor in the Camberwell Art Show and recognising excellence in contemporary visual art. You can find out more about this award on our Boroondara Arts Encouragement Award page.
