Participants must read and agree to the General rules before entering the competition.

Classical Vocal Solo – 18 years and under

Date: 6 pm Tuesday 28 May
Venue: Hawthorn Arts Centre
Registration fee: $25
Time limit: 6 minutes
Requirements: Music of own choice within classical styles of vocal music.
Prizes: 1st – $90, 2nd - $55, 3rd – $30

Adjudicator: To be confirmed
Participants who are either related to the adjudicator or have been taught privately by the adjudicator within 6 months prior to date of event are ineligible to participate in this section.

Accompanist fee: $10
The official accompanist must be booked and the fee paid at the time of entry. The accompanist fee covers the performance only. Rehearsals are strongly encouraged and can be arranged directly with the accompanist. These will incur additional fees as determined by the accompanist. Entrants may use their own accompanist by private arrangement.
Pre-recorded accompaniment is not permitted for this section.

Oratorio/Cantata Solo – Open

Date: 7 pm Tuesday 28 May
Venue: Hawthorn Arts Centre
Registration fee: $25
Time limit: 6 minutes
Requirements: Oratorio or cantata of own choice
Prizes: 1st – $125, 2nd – $75, 3rd – $50

Participants who are either related to the adjudicator or have been taught privately by the adjudicator within 6 months prior to date of event are ineligible to participate in this section.

Requirements: Art song or lieder of own choice.
Prizes: 1st – $125, 2nd – $75, 3rd – $50

Classical Vocal Championship – Open

Dates: Heats – 6 pm Wednesday 29 May 
Final – 2 pm Sunday 18 August
Venue: Hawthorn Arts Centre
Time limit: Heats – 8 minutes
Final – 12 minutes
Requirements: One operatic aria of own choice. 
Final – Finalists must sing the operatic aria from their heats together with one other contrasting classical piece of own choice (for example lieder or art song) which has not been sung in any other section at this year’s Eisteddfod. 
Eligibility: Participants must have also performed in either Section 2.01, 2.02 or 2.03 
Prizes: 1st – $800, 2nd – $500, 3rd – $300

Time limit: 4 minutes
Requirements: Song of own choice. Contemporary styles – not musical theatre
Prizes: 1st – $60, 2nd – $35, 3rd – $25

Adjudicator: To be confirmed
Participants who are either related to the adjudicator or have been taught privately by the adjudicator within 6 months prior to date of event are ineligible to participate in this section.

Accompanist: There is no official accompanist for this section. Participants must either provide their own piano accompanist, or provide pre-recorded accompaniment in mp3 format on USB on the day of the event. Participants are not allowed to accompany themselves.

Requirements: Two contrasting songs of own choice (for example, upbeat and ballad, jazz and pop). Contemporary styles – not musical theatre.
