Event details
‘Before I Turn 100: A Century in the Making’ is an immersive exhibition that weaves together the remarkable stories of 6 Boroondara centenarians, aged 100 years and older, with the voices, imagination and vibrant spirit of our Boroondara community.
Last year, our community was invited to share their hopes and dreams for the future in response to the prompt ‘Before I turn 100, I want to…’. Inspired by American artist Candy Chang’s ‘Before I Die’ project, families, friends, colleagues and classmates added their unique responses to chalk walls, forming a rich collection of voices from across the age span.
This exhibition brings those stories to life while recognising older adults and the invaluable knowledge, wisdom and life experience they have gathered over many decades. It invites you to pause and reflect on what matters most over a lifetime.
From the hundreds of statements we collected, 6 themes emerged.

Presented in collaboration with the National Communication Museum (NCM) and The 100 Project.
