Entry information
Registration fee is $25 unless otherwise stated.
Adjudicators:
- Heats - please refer to each section heat for confirmed adjudicators
- Finals (9yrs, 12yrs, 15yrs) - Sophia Kirsanova
- Finals (Open) - Fem Belling
Participants who are either related to the adjudicator or have been taught privately by the adjudicator within 6 months prior to date of event are ineligible to participate in this section. Please refer to each section heat for confirmed adjudicators.
Accompanist fee: $10
The official accompanist must be booked and the fee paid at the time of entry. The accompanist fee covers the performance only. Rehearsals are strongly encouraged and can be arranged directly with the accompanist. These will incur additional fees as determined by the accompanist. Entrants may use their own accompanist by private arrangement.
Pre-recorded accompaniment is not permitted for this section.

Strings Solo Finals will be held on Sunday 17 August.
Date: From 10 am Sunday 29 June
Time limit: 3 minutes
Requirements: Music of own choice for any orchestral string instrument, such as violin, viola, cello, double bass or harp. Participants must be available for the finals, if they are selected. Participants may play the same piece at the final that was played at the heats or select a new work.
Prizes: 1st – $30, 2nd – $20, 3rd – $10

Date: 2pm Saturday 9 August and 2pm Sunday 10 August
Time limit: 3 minutes
Requirements: Music of own choice for any orchestral string instrument, such as violin, viola, cello, double bass or harp. Participants must be available for the finals, if they are selected. Participants may play the same piece at the final that was played at the heats or select a new work.
Prizes: 1st – $50, 2nd – $30, 3rd – $20

Prizes: 1st – $60, 2nd – $35, 3rd – $25

Date: 6:30pm Thursday 24 July and 6:30pm Friday 25 July
(Winners announced at conclusion of Tuesday 16 July session)
Time limit: 8 minutes

Prizes: 1st – $90, 2nd – $55, 3rd – $35

Date: 6:30pm Monday 21 July and 6:30pm Tuesday 22 July
Time limit: 12 minutes
Requirements: Two works of own choice for any orchestral string instrument, such as violin, viola, cello, double bass or harp. Participants must be available for the finals. During the heats, participants will perform one work of their own choice for any string instrument. The time limit for the heats is 8 minutes.
Prizes: 1st – $500, 2nd – $75, 3rd – $50

Date: 3:30pm Sunday 22 June
Time limit: 5 minutes
Requirements: Music of own choice for any orchestral string instrument, such as violin, viola, cello, double bass or harp.
Eligibility: Participants cannot register for this event if they enter any of the competitive sections.
Prizes: In non-competitive sections, there is no placing or prizes. Participants will receive a participation certificate and written feedback from the adjudicator.
