Opportunities for artists and community groups
Are you an artist looking to exhibit your work or a member of a community group looking for a performance venue? Explore some of the ways we support local creativity.
Community Project Wall
The Community Project Wall is located within Hawthorn Arts Centre in the side foyer of the Town Hall Gallery. Spanning close to 30 metres, this is a free exhibition space available to local community groups, local and emerging artists and schools to exhibit a series of two-dimensional works to a wide audience.
Exhibitions are selected through an annual application call-out. Each exhibition lasts approximately 1 month and there are 12 exhibitions per year.
Applications for 2019 are now closed.
Community Arts Venue Grants
Our venues are full of exciting and accessible spaces that Boroondara-based artists and community members can apply to use free of charge (conditions apply).
If you have a creative project, performance season, exhibition, event, workshop or anything else your imagination desires, you may be eligible for in-kind support at Hawthorn Arts Centre or Kew Court House.
Applications open annually in ongoing rounds.
Town Hall Gallery Guest Curator
Town Hall Gallery invites proposals from emerging, mid-career and established curators or collectives to present an exhibition as part of our 2019 exhibition program. We welcome innovative ideas and critical approaches to contemporary art practice from across the cultural spectrum.
The call for submissions is open until 5pm, Tuesday 31 July 2018.
To apply, email the Town Hall Gallery or send your application by post to Town Hall Gallery, 360 Burwood Road, Hawthorn VIC 312.
