Through the tactile use of fibre and material, the featured artists explore how people relate to both built and natural environments.Dana Harris’ delicate weavings echo historical mappings of Boroondara, while Kylie Stillman’s textured forms celebrate the quiet beauty of urban nature. Louis Kahan captures an intimate moment of domestic repair, contrasted with Louise Saxton’s needlework drawn from repurposed household textiles. Cassie Leatham’s healing mat embodies Indigenous knowledge and deep connection to Country, while John Young’s embroidered works trace Chinese-Australian histories. Across weaving, sewing and embroidery these artists engage processes that speak to memory, land and story. The Town Hall Gallery Collection reflects the shared histories, creative spirit and the evolving identity of the Boroondara community. Featuring works by some of Australia’s most significant artists of the 20th and 21st centuries, the Collection continues to enrich public spaces and foster belonging and wellbeing.Featuring: Dana Harris, Louis Kahan, Cassie Leatham, Louise Saxton, Kylie Stillman and John Young.Installation view, ‘Another Look: Contemporary Artists and the Collection’, Town Hall Gallery, 2017.
