This jazz supergroup comprising Paul Grabowsky (piano), Mirko Guerrini (saxes) and Niko Schauble (drums) brings together a wealth of experience gathered by over 3 decades of musical adventures. Each a prolific composer, their performances range across the boundaries of genre, referencing the various traditions that have inspired them.

Torrio! brings together three of Australia’s most accomplished and distinctive musicians: Paul Grabowsky AO on piano, Mirko Guerrini on saxophones and woodwinds, and Niko Schäuble on drums. With more than three decades of shared musical history between them, the trio draws on an extraordinary breadth of experience spanning jazz, contemporary classical music, composition, film and television soundtracks, theatre and improvisation.
At the heart of Torrio! is a deep musical intuition shaped by years of collaboration. Their performances move freely between tightly composed material and spontaneous invention, creating music that can be lyrical, playful, cinematic and rhythmically adventurous in equal measure.
Each member brings an extensive international career to the ensemble. Grabowsky is one of Australia’s most celebrated pianists and composers, while German-born Schäuble is a highly regarded drummer, composer and producer, and Italian-born Guerrini is an acclaimed saxophonist, composer and conductor with a career spanning Europe and Australia.
Torrio! has appeared with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, including the world premiere of Grabowsky’s Fascinatin’ Algorhythm, and continues to perform across major concert halls, festivals and leading jazz venues, showcasing the remarkable chemistry of three master musicians in constant musical conversation.
